Frequently ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the Udder Mudd'r a new event?

The Udder Mudd’r Mud Obstacle Course debuted in 2012 and 2013 as a family-friendly, fun charitable endeavor, serving as both a community giveback initiative and a fundraiser for local non-profit organizations. Little did the Wolf/Zarnke families realize, it marked a pivotal transition point, acting as the bridge between their earlier agri-tourism events and the establishment of Memory Lane Farm, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing farm-based programs aimed at fostering healing, learning, and hands-on experiences through interaction with nature and animals.

What is the Udder Mudd’r?

The Udder Mudd’r is a family-friendly outdoor fund-raiser for Memory Lane Farm, Inc. located on the Wolf/Zarnke farmstead encompassing a 5k (3.1 mile) obstacle mud run. We prioritize fun and team work over speed or competition, ensuring a fun-filled experience for every participant. Featuring over 17 obstacles through field and forest, from crawling and climbing to sliding and balancing, prepare to embark on a laughter-filled journey to the finish line. Whether you're tackling the course solo or as part of a team, we aim to test your strength, endurance, and spirit. With the manageable distance, this challenge is accessible for all levels - whether you run, walk, or take a break, as long as you're enjoying yourself! We can’t forget about our little ones! Since we love families - the Lil’ Piggy Plunge obstacle course for little mudders is available too!

RUN AND COURSE INFORMATION

What Kind of Obstacles Can I Expect in the Udder Mudd’r?

To ensure you have the most exhilarating day out in the mud, we've created a diverse range of obstacles to keep you both challenged and entertained. Here's what you can look forward to through the field and forest: - Wading, crawling, or paddling through water and mud - Scaling ropes, nets, and tire towers Navigating across balance obstacles - Sliding, gliding, shimmying, and rolling down poles, small hills, and embankments - Maneuvering over, through, or under poles, climbing frames, and barrels Do I need to know how to swim? Nope! Some obstacles may have 2-3’ deep water but the majority are just mud. If you don’t feel comfortable, you can always go around the obstacle.

Do I Have To Complete All Of The Obstacles?

No! At the Udder Mudd’r, we believe in empowering our participants to explore their capabilities and boundaries. Our event provides an opportunity for self-discovery, allowing individuals to push themselves while also respecting their limits. If you encounter an obstacle that feels overwhelming, know that it's perfectly okay to bypass it by walking through or around it. Your safety and comfort are paramount, and we fully support you in making choices that align with your journey during the event.

Is There A Time Limit?

At the Udder Mudd’r, we don’t track time or focus on competition. Feel free to complete the course at your own pace – run, walk, or take it easy; it's all about having fun in the mud.

How Long Will The Mud Run Take To Complete?

The average time is two hours of mud-filled fun! It totally depends on you and how fast or slowly you want to run/walk/crawl/skip/hop or shimmy the course.

Will all the participants run the Udder Mudd’r course at once?

We're all about keeping it exciting and safe. Start Waves will be every 15 minutes, so you'll have plenty of time to gear up and get ready for your muddy adventure. During registration, you'll get to pick your preferred Start Wave Time. Keep an eye on your inbox because your assigned start time will be sent to you via email once waves are available. And don't worry, there'll be plenty of fellow Mudders alongside you, with waves usually including around 50-70 participants, depending on how many adventurous souls sign up! The Lil’ Piggy Plunge is scheduled for 1:30 PM and will be divided into age groups to ensure safety for all lil mudder’s. Parents of younger mudder’s are welcome to assist.

REGISTRATION

What ages can participate?

The Udder Mudd’r (5k) welcomes participants from ages 8 to 85, setting a record to beat! In previous years, our youngest runners have been 8 years old, and they've thoroughly enjoyed the experience. As a parent or guardian, it's ultimately your decision whether you feel your child is ready to participate. However, we do insist that a parent or guardian accompany youth ages 8-14 throughout the course. The Lil’ Piggy Plunge (LPP) is a perfect alternative for the littles or if you believe your child might not be quite ready for the full Udder Mudd’r 5k course. The LLP is essentially a miniature version of the obstacle course, without going into the woods. The Lil’ Piggy Plunge is ideally suited for children between the ages of 3 and 9.

How much of my registration fee goes back to Memory Lane Farm’s mission?

All of it, except processing fees! Every cent of your registration fee directly benefits Memory Lane Farm, Inc. This means that your contribution goes towards supporting our programs, providing scholarships for mentoring, literacy programs, and summer camps, along with ensuring the well-being of our animals. Thank you sincerely for your support!

What If It Rains On Event Day?

At the Udder Mudd’r, we don’t let a little mud stop us, so we certainly aren’t going to let a little rain get in our way, either. We are a rain-or-shine event, so unless we have specifically contacted you (email and Facebook) to say otherwise, please assume that the mud run is on! Weather conditions that would stop our fun are lightning, tornadoes, forest fires, or extreme hail. It’s essential to note that should the event need to be postponed due to forces beyond our control, we will do our best to find a new date as soon as possible and all tickets will immediately be transferred to the new event. No refunds are issued for weather cancellations.

EVENT DAY

What Should I Wear?

Ready to tackle the mud? Here are some clothing and gear tips to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience: 1. Comfortable Clothing: Opt for lightweight, moisture-wicking attire that allows for easy movement. Avoid cotton, which can become heavy with mud and sweat. 2. Footwear: Don't forget your shoes! They are required on the course and around the farm. Tie your shoelaces tightly to prevent losing a shoe in the mud. 3. Eye Protection: Consider wearing a headband, protective eyewear, or visor to keep mud out of your eyes. 4. Long Shorts or Pants: Wear long shorts or pants that cover your knees to prevent scraping, or consider wearing knee pads for extra protection. 5. Gloves: Protect your hands and provide extra grip with gloves designed for outdoor activities. 6. Foot Care: Apply petroleum jelly or anti-chafing cream to your feet before putting on socks to prevent chafing and blisters. But why stop there? Feel free to express yourself and show off your unique style by dressing up in fun and creative attire! Whether it's tutus, tiaras, bright colors, or glitter, let your imagination run wild and make a splash at the Udder Mudd'r!
